Kansas DOT follows the federal requirements for handicap parking sign compliance

• 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design Identification [502.6]

Kansas Accessible Parking signs should display the following information from top to bottom of the sign, in the order listed:

• The restriction or prohibition;
• The times of the day that it is applicable, if not at all hours; and
• The days of the week that it is applicable, if not every day
• If a fine is applicable, it must be stated on the sign

Accessible space must be designated by an R7-8 Kansas Handicap Parking Sign

• Pavement markings are not sufficient designation of Accessible Parking spots.
• International Symbol of Accessibility must be in white on a blue background

• 5’ from front of space
• 5’ from ground to bottom of sign (ADA § 502.6)
